Allysia Cook, known musically as Lil Ace, is an upcoming female rapper, singer and songwriter from Lansing, Michigan. Born on the Southside on June 25th, raised on the Northside of Lansing in a quiet suburb, Lil Ace attended Otto Middle School where her joy of writing poetry began. Lil Ace has said “Writing poetry gave me a trusted ear, always thinking…I never really said those words written aloud; I just wrote and turned the page, but always remembered the thoughts.” Striving for excellence, Lil Ace kept her nose in a book or dictionary every day. “If I didn’t know the meaning of a word, I looked it up.” Called a nerd by her big sister Lil Ace has said “I’ve always wanted to get good grades in school to make my parents proud of me, and my Father gave me money for A’s.” The love of Music came at a young age, really listening to lyrics and the meaning and passion behind words. “I loved words in songs that gave me goose bumps and made me want to hear it over and over again. In middle school, I sung everything. At the end of class during lunch time, me and a few fellow local artists ciphered in the foyer, Jodeci boots, Cross Colors, Malcolm X era…its funny how some things just don’t change.” Singing sweet hooks for friends over the years, Lil Ace finally decided to really move forward with her music in December 2015 after finding old pictures from friends with a note of the back. Most of them said, “To a cool girl I met, keep rapping and singing.”
